IAASARS/NOA through the research project FORSPEF (FORecasting Solar Particle Events and Flares), funded by the European Space Agency ( ESA ), will develop an application that will provide real- time forecasts of solar flares and solar energetic particle events. The objective of this action is to combine existing and develop new methods to improve the prediction of the upcoming solar flares and the estimation of the flux, duration and intensity of solar particle events. The prototype tool that will be developed will provide reliable predictions for the occurrence of solar flares, as well as of the solar energetic particle events which could impact the spacecraft operations.
