PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Valentini-Nektaria Kanaki is an undergraduate student of the School of Rural, Surveying and Geoinformatics Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). She has carried out many works in the field of Photo-interpretation and Remote Sensing and has successfully attended the Artificial Intelligence Seminar of NTUA, in which she was trained in basic issues of Artificial Intelligence. She has participated in competitions such as Nasa International Space Apps Challenge, Hack The Business and volunteered in the GreenTech Challenge. Having dedication, organization and perseverance, she experiments in new fields in order to enhance her scientific progress. Since September 2023, she started her internship in satellite data analysis for forest fire forecasting and mapping, which she successfully completed and is now a member of the Operational Unit BEYOND of the IAASARS of the NOA. She is currently working on her thesis, which is related to forest fire detection using machine learning methods.

INTERESTS

Her scientific interests include natural disasters, earth observation, remote sensing, geoinformatics, image processing, mapping and applications of geographic information systems (GIS), machine learning and marine pollution.
