Stavroula Alatza holds an MEng degree in Surveying Engineering and a PhD degree from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). She has worked as a freelancer Researcher Surveying Engineer. She has participated in Νational and European research projects and studies on natural hazards monitoring through geodetic observations and remote sensing data, as o co-investigator. She currently works as a Post-Doctoral Researcher for the National Observatory of Athens (NOA), IAASARS, Operational Unit BEYOND Center of EO Research & Satellite Remote Sensing, in the field of InSAR Earth Observation based monitoring of natural and anthropogenic disasters.

Her research is focused on InSAR Earth Observation, image processing for big data analytics, AI techniques for the investigation of surface deformation, remote sensing in an emergency management context.
