NATIONAL OBSERVATORY OF ATHENS “Asteroid Day 2017” at Kryoneri Observatory
The National Observatory of Athens and the Cultural Society of Youth in Kryoneri are hosting a public event for Asteroid Day 2017 on Friday, June 30 at Kryoneri Observatory. Starting at 8pm, visitors will be given a tour of the Observatory where they will learn about the telescope. At 9:15pm there will be a presentation on the danger posed by near-earth asteroids, as well as the new research program NELIOTA. Visitors will also have the opportunity to view the Moon, planets and other celestial objects of the night sky through telescopes set up by amateur astronomers!
