PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Athanasios Rontogiannis received the diploma degree in Electrical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 1991, the M.A.Sc. from the University of Victoria, Canada, in 1993 and the PhD in Signal Processing and Communications from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) in 1997, with a scholarship from the Greek State Scholarship Foundation.

From 1998 to 1999, he was a Postdoctoral Scholar with the department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the University of Athens. He was also with the School of Natural Resources Management of the University of Ioannina from 1998 to 2003, first as a Teaching/Research Associate and since 2000 as a Lecturer in Informatics. In 2003 he joined the National Observatory of Athens (NOA), where he is currently a Research Director at the Institute for Astronomy, Astrophysics, Space Applications and Remote Sensing (IAASARS). Since 2009, he is also a Teaching Associate with the department of Informatics and Telematics of the Harokopio University.

INTERESTS

Computational signal and image processing, machnine learning for signal and image processing, adaptive signal processing, hyperspectral image processing, compressed sensing, sparse low-rank signal representations, fast signal processing algorithms, numerical linear algebra in signal processing.

Wireless Communications at the Physical Layer: Estimation/Equalization of Wireless Communication Channels, Multicarrier Communications, Cooperative Communications, Performance Analysis of Wireless Communication Systems.
