PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Stella Girtsou is a research associate at the National Observatory of Athens (NOA)  and a PhD at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). Her primary research focus lies in the domain of Forest Fire prediction systems, with a specialization in the application of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques. Stella’s academic journey began with a Bachelor’s degree in Rural, Surveying and Geoinformatics Engineering, while during her Master’s degree in Space Applications, she was trained on advanced Machine Learning methodologies, big data management and algorithms for data analysis and prediction systems.

INTERESTS

Stella, during her professional experience, has been actively engaged in the development of advanced algorithmic solutions in the whole spectrum of wildfire management: Real-Time monitoring, Damage assessment, Wildfire Risk Prediction and other and has published the results of her research in international journals and conferences.
