Giannis Papagiannopoulos is a graduate of the School of Applied Mathematics and Physics of the National Technical University of Athens with specialization (MSc) in Theoretical Physics and Particle Physics. He then attended the postgraduate program in Astronomy – Astrophysics(Msc) of the Astrophysics department of the physics department of the university of Athens, his diploma thesis being on General Relativity and Cosmology. He continued as a PhD student at the same school working on “The Study of Generalized Symmetries in Cosmological Models of Alternative Gravity” under the supervision of Director of IAASARS Spyros Basilakos.

His research interests are in General Relativity and Alternative Theories of Gravity.
