One postdoctoral position in Space Physics
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in Space Physics. The project aims in the development of statistical tools for the study of solar energetic particle events in the framework of space weather applications. The duration of the position will be 11 months. Applicants with previous experience in data analysis of solar particle events are particularly encouraged to apply. In addition, demonstrated computing and modeling capability in IDL and MATLAB will be considered an asset. The successful candidate is expected to be highly motivated and will work under the supervision of Dr. A. Anastasiadis at the Institute of Astronomy, Astrophysics, Space Applications and Remote Sensing (IAASARS) of the National Observatory of Athens. She/he will also have the opportunity to join a number international collaborations established by the researchers of IAASARS. For additional information on the position please contact Dr. A. Anastasiadis (anastasi@noa.gr). Applications by e-mail are strongly encouraged addressed to Mrs. Ourania Koumentakou (as_sec@noa.gr). These should include a CV and publication list, as well as a brief statement of current and future research interests (in PDF format). Applicants should arrange that three recommendation letters by scientists who are familiar with their work are sent directly to the same address. The position will be funded by the “KRIPIS/PROTEAS” program of the Greek Secretariat of Research and Technology. A PhD degree in space physics or in solar physics is a prerequisite for the commencement of the position. Consideration of applications will begin on November 1st, 2014 till November 15th, 2014. A starting date at the end of November 2014 is anticipated. For more information click here.
