Aikaterini-Argyri Paroni is a final-year student at the School of Rural and Surveying Engineering – Geoinformatics Engineering, National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). Her diploma thesis focuses on the application of machine learning algorithms for predicting the urban heat island effect, utilizing satellite data. Since 2024, she has been working at the Operational Unit “BEYOND Centre of EO Research & Satellite Remote Sensing”, where she also previously completed her internship. She has participated in projects related to geospatial analysis and remote sensing with applications in environmental monitoring, natural disaster assessment, and geological mapping.
Her experience also includes involvement in urban planning through her participation in the development of Local Urban Plans at NTUA, specializing in spatial data mapping and processing within GIS environments.
Finally, she actively engages in volunteer initiatives with an environmental and educational focus, aiming to promote sustainability and scientific outreach.
