PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Spyros Theodoridis is a graduate of the Department of Agriculture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH; 2007) and holds a postgraduate diploma in biodiversity conservation from the Department of Biology of AUTH (2011). In 2016 he received his PhD in Biogeography from the Faculty of Science, University of Zurich focusing on the impacts of climate change on biodiversity. Since then, he has worked as postdoctoral researcher at the University of Zurich (2016-2018) and University of Copenhagen (2018-2020), as postdoctoral fellow of Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions of the European Union at Senckenberg Biodiversity and Climate Research Center, Frankfurt (2020-2022), and as associate researcher at Goethe University, Frankfurt (2022-2024). His research focuses on the collection and integration of satellite, climate, ecological and molecular data for investigating the impacts of anthropogenic environmental change on biodiversity and ecosystems. Since 2024 he works at the Operational Unit “BEYOND Centre of EO Research & Satellite Remote Sensing” on problems related to agro-ecological systems and the management of biodiversity and natural ecosystems through the prism of environmental change.
