In November 2025, the first phase of the upgrade of the “Aristarchos” telescope was completed by the company ProjectSoft HK a.s. During the upgrade, new state-of-the-art control systems for the telescope and the dome were installed, along with a new operating system. The proper operation of all telescope components with the new software was tested, and the first trials and nighttime observations were carried out.

At the same time, the staff of IAASARS received training both in operating the telescope and in controlling its electronic systems. This upgrade provides the telescope with significantly enhanced capabilities, enabling observations of greater accuracy. In the coming period, a series of tests is expected to be conducted in order to fully evaluate the capabilities of the upgraded telescope and to allow the IAADDET staff to become fully familiar with the new mode of operation.
