Alceste Bonanos obtained her B.A. in Physics and Astronomy from Wellesley College (USA) in 2000, her M.A. in Astronomy from Harvard University (USA) in 2002 and her PhD in Astronomy from Harvard University (USA) in 2005.

She was a Vera Rubin Fellow at the Carnegie Institution for Science (USA) from 2005-2008, and a Giacconi Fellow at the Space Telescope Science Institute (USA) from 2008-2009. She joined IAASARS, National Observatory of Athens, in September 2009 and since March 2017 is a Senior Researcher.

  Research Interests 

Observational Extragalactic Stellar Astrophysics, with emphasis on massive stars and the extragalactic distance scale. She has been working mainly on problems related to massive stars in nearby galaxies, stellar variability and near-earth objects.
