A press release was issued on February 27, 2013 on the first results published by the 2.3m Aristarchos telescope.

2.3m Telescope "ARISTARCHOS"

Named after Aristarchos of Samos, the first reported person to propose a heliocentric model of the solar system, the new 2.3 m Greek telescope, with a focal ratio f/8, is the pride of the Institute of Astronomy, Astrophysics, Space Applications and Remote Sensing (IAASARS) of the National Observatory of Athens (NOA), being the largest telescope in southeastern Europe. It encompasses modern technology with substantial observational capabilities and it is hoped that it will give Greece an immense boost towards observational astronomy and astrophysics and furnish several international and scientific collaborations.
