Manolis Xilouris obtained his BSc in Physics in 1992 and his MSc in 1994 from the University of Crete. In 1999 he obtained his PhD in Astrophysics from the University of Athens.
He was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the FOundation for Research and Technology (FORTH) in Crete in 2001 and a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Astrophysics Section of CEA/Saclay in France since October 2001. In 2003 he was elected as Assistant Researcher (Researcher Grade D') at the Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics (IAA) of the National Observatory of Athens (NOA) while in 2007 he got promoted to Associate Researcher (Researcher Grade C') at IAA/EAA. Since 2011 he is a Senior Researcher (Researcher Grade B') at the Institute of Astronomy, Astrophysics, Space Applications and Remote Sensing (IAASARS) of NOA.
Observational Extragalactic Astrophysics, with emphasis in Space Infrared Astronomy. He has been working mostly on problems related to Transfer of Radiation within galaxies, studies of the properties of dust in nearby galaxies as well as the studies of the interstellar medium in (Ultra) Luminous Infrared Galaxies (ULIRGs).
