  1. Opening of two Researcher B positions at IAASARS/NOA

    The Institute for Astronomy, Astrophysics, Space Applications and Remote Sensing (IAASARS) of the National Observatory of Athens (NOA), has openings of two permanent positions at the level of "Senior Researcher (Researcher B')", which resulted from a request for promotion of two "Associate Researchers (Researcher C)". The field of the first is "Remote sensing of terrestrial and aquatic environment with emphasis to SAR and hyper spectral sensors", and the second "Space Physics with emphasis to the Ionosphere of the Earth".   2. New PhD scholarship at IAASARS/NOA

    The Institute for Astronomy, Astrophysics, Space Applications & Remote Sensing (IAASARS) at the National Observatory of Athens (NOA) is advertising a one year scholarship aimed at students currently undertaking a PhD in ¤bservational ┴stronomy, Space Science or any related field. The scholarship starts at April 2017. The selected candidate will work on the Science Archives Publication System (SAPS) project and will be responsible for the ingestion of new scientific publications into the system, test the system performance and efficiency, verify the consistency of the publications meta-data built by SAPS and report bugs and malfunctions. Knowledge of the structure of the observational data from European Space Agency (ESA) science missions and experience in their analysis, familiarity with the use of the Astrophysics Data System (ADS) and good knowledge of English language are considered prerequisites.   3. New postdoctoral position at IAASARS/NOA

    The X-Ray astronomy group of the Institute of Astronomy Astrophysics & Remote Sensing at the National Observatory of Athens is advertising a postdoctoral position for one year that could be renewed up to a period of three years. The selected candidate will work on the derivation of photometric redshifts for X-Ray sources using machine learning techniques. Experience in the derivation of photometric redshifts and possibly experience in X-Ray Astronomy data analysis are prerequisites. Please send a brief CV including research interests to Dr. I. Georgantopoulos before the 31st of January. The candidate should also send two names of referees who are willing to send a letter in support of their application.
